Each of the three flagbearer hopefuls of the People’s National Convention (PNC) are confident of emerging victorious in party’s National Delegates Congress slated for today, Tuesday, September 30, 2020.
PNC is holding its National Delegates Congress today where it will elect its flagbearer and other National Executives.
Rev. Samuel Adjei, Mr. Sampson Asaki Awingobit, and Mr. David Apasera are vying for the flagbearer position.
Speaking to Citi News ahead of the congress, Mr. Awingobit said he is the right persons to boost the fortunes of the PNC in the upcoming general elections.
“If you go all out there, Samson Awingobit has really introduced dynamism, enthusiasm, and vibrancy in this year’s campaign. I have travelled to all the regions and the little I have witnessed during the campaigns tell me that, I am the people’s favourite,” Mr. Awingobit.
Reverend Sam Adjei also stated that he is very confident about winning the position stating that, “I’m expecting to win. Even if I win by one vote, it is a win. I’m very confident about this.”
The Congress was initially scheduled for September 6, 2020, but was postponed to September 30.
According to the party, the new date was chosen after the congress committee met officials of the Electoral Commission over some difficulties on the part of the Commission.
31 people are duly confirmed to contest for the thirteen available national positions including the party’s 2020 flagbearer.
More than 4,000 delegates across the 16 regions are expected to participate in the exercise in their respective regions.
