The Member of Parliament for Adentan, Yaw Buaben Asamoa has cut the sod for the construction of an artificial football pitch (Astro Turf) at the Adjiringano School Park.
The project is being sponsored by the Ghana Gas Company Limited as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
Work on the astroturf is expected to be completed within the next four months.
Yaw Buaben Asamoa said the project would create opportunities for the youth in the community while putting the Adjiringano in the limelight.
“When we have a vibrant sporting life, it has its advantages. It opens up opportunities for commercial success and serves the community as well. We have two opportunities for standard size pitches, one is already under construction and then this one. So we sought support for this project and fortunately for us, Ghana Gas, as part of their social responsibility towards the youth, was kind to include Adentan in providing a facility that would serve the interests of the youth. Fortunately, the land is big enough, and many other activities can be held on the park aside football. I believe it’s a very good facility to deliver here,” he said.
The MP also advised the youth to make good use of the astroturf when it’s completed and properly manage it to ensure its longevity.
“The youth should enjoy, and the community should also manage it well. It’s important that it is managed well.”
He also urged the youth to be involved in the electoral process of the country, to secure their future.
“The youth should accept that, it’s important they participate. They must go out there and vote because it is their votes and good governance that will bring development to the community. I’m urging all the youth of Adjiringano to vote and vote wisely on 7th December in order to retain this government to continue our good works,” he said.
