The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini has expressed readiness to appear before the Privileges Committee of Parliament to testify for the contempt case he brought against the Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong.
The Committee has scheduled Thursday, August 5, 2021, to begin a public hearing of the case.
The clerk to the committee has thus written to the Tamale North legislator upon the instructions of the chairman of the committee, Joe Osei Owusu to appear as the first witness.
Suhuyini after receiving the letter took to his Facebook page to express his readiness to appear and thanked the committee chair.
Background
Kennedy Agyapong is alleged to have called for the reporter with Kumasi based radio station, Luv FM, Erastus Asare Donkor, to be beaten following the latter’s testimony before the committee probing the disturbances in Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
The mother company of Luv FM, Multimedia Group, has already made a formal complaint to the police over the threat.
The legislator has also been referred to the Privileges Committee of Parliament.
This is the second time Kennedy Agyapong has been dragged before the committee.
