Three persons have been arrested by the Tesano Divisional Police Command for indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the Okaikoi North municipality.
The arrest was effected in a night operation by a taskforce set up by the Okaikoi North Municipal Assembly.
One of the arrested persons was dumping a wheelbarrow full of coconut husks.
The others had unspecified refuse on them.
A woman suspected to be mentally-ill was also picked up, but a decision is yet to be taken on her fate.
The MCE for Okaikoi North, Boye Laryea, told the press that his outfit will try to sustain these exercises.
He described the problem with filth in the area as “a nightmare.”
“We are going to continue. This exercise is not going to end anytime soon. We are going to continue and stop all those people who are very recalcitrant trying to litter everywhere in the country.”
