The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, has tasked the management and the entire student body of St. Peter’s Senior High School to work hard and win the coveted Science and Maths Quiz for the fourth time to make the entire region proud again.
The Kwahu Nkwatia-based school, which is the only school in the Eastern Region to have won the Science and Maths Quiz competition 3 times, last week saw off their rivals Legon Presec in the finals of the Sharks quiz competition, winning that competition for the first time.
Speaking in Nkwatia Kwahu at a special event to mark the school’s 65 years since its establishment in February 1957, the Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong, an alumnus, congratulated the school on its achievements over the years, noted the importance of the free SHS program, especially to the less privileged.
“Education is the bedrock for development and economic growth since it plays a vital role in building human capacity for future opportunities, therefore the paradigm shift and the direction that secondary school education has taken to ensure economic growth is a topical issue that needs to be emphasized because of empowering youth with the requisite knowledge and skills and attitude will surely ensure an economy ever ready workforce which will give empathise to our accelerated growth and the development of our country.”
On his part, the Special Guest of Honour, the Paramount Chief of New Juaben Traditional Area, Nana Kwaku Boateng III, also an alumnus of the school, appreciated both past and present board of the school for working hard towards the development and sustenance of high academic and discipline.
“I am very proud, especially with the good work of past and present board members for uplifting the standards of the school and also congratulate the current board chairman of the school Nana Owuredu Wadie (I) for his immense contribution to developing the school.”
