The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpone Katamanso, Joseph Tettey, has stressed that drivers and residents within his constituency will embark on continuous demonstrations to compel the government to fix the deplorable roads in the area.
Drivers who ply their trade on the roads around the Kpone Katamanso Municipality, including Kpone Barrier, Michael Camp, and Saki Bediako, embarked on a sit-down strike yesterday to register their displeasure with the government over the poor state of roads in the community.
Responding to the action by the drivers, Mr. Tettey called on the government to do the needful, otherwise, they would demonstrate until the roads were fixed.
“There is a contractor on that road and in July the contractor even promised to come to the site. He is talking about the need to mobilise for him to move to the site. So that is his problem. The whole problem is funds.”
“If we have to mobilise and send a very clear signal to the government we will do it. If nothing is done within one or two weeks, we will hit the roads and make our issues clear to the government,” he stated.
Mr. Tettey called on the government in July to fix the roads in the constituency.
He contends that constituents of Kpone Katamanso in the Greater Accra region are taxpayers who deserve to benefit from good roads.
His plea follows complaints from people of the constituency that most of their roads are deplorable.
Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Tettey bemoaned the government’s failure to pay contractors on the various roads in his constituency to resume work.
