The Ghana Railway Development Authority has refuted claims that its Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Susan Delali Akosua Kudjoe, issued an eviction notice without the knowledge of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Yaw Owusu, to occupants of Railway Lands along the Nyaho Clinic stretch and Asuma Banda’s mosque at Airport Residential Area in Accra.
This follows media reports regarding a purported ultimatum issued by the Ghana Railway Development Authority to occupants of Railway Lands along the Nyaho Clinic stretch and Asuma Banda’s mosque at Airport Residential Area in Accra.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Authority indicated that the assertion was false and malicious.
“We dispute the claim that the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Madam Susan Delali Akosua Kudjoe, has issued an eviction notice without the knowledge of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Yaw Owusu. This assertion is not only blatantly false but malicious as well,” it stated.
The Authority further noted that while it acknowledged that encroachment on Railway Lands posed a significant challenge during the ongoing construction of Railway lines, it sought to cooperate with the public and the media to raise awareness and support for the Authority’s efforts in reclaiming the lands.
