First-year Senior High School students across the country have reported to their respective schools to commence enrollment.
This follows a directive by the Ghana Education Service for all freshmen to report on Monday, December 4, despite calls by Parliament for a reconsideration of the reporting date.
Citi News checks in Accra reveal that registrations for students are currently ongoing, albeit with a low turnout in some schools.
Speaking to Citi News, the Assistant Headmaster in charge of administration at the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School, PRESEC, Prince Agotey Sackey, indicated that they have started admitting students, and orientation will commence soon.
“It’s been quite good. Today is the first day. We started as early as 5, and some parents were already here, and by 7:00, we have taken off. We are expecting about 1700 plus students, and so far we have recorded close to 800, so we are still waiting. The admission is a process; tomorrow we will continue, but after that, we will start the orientation. They are coming to stay here for three years, and there are a number of things we have to take them through. We have to take them through orientation to properly integrate them into the system.”
