The Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies(UBIDS) has matriculated a total of 4253 fresh students to pursue various academic programmes for the 2023/2024 academic year.
The figure, which comprises 2765 males and 1489 females represents 90% of the total number of applicants who applied to the university to be considered for admissions for the 2023/2024 academic year.
Speaking during their 4th matriculation ceremony at the school on Sunday, March 24, 2024, to officially admit the freshmen and women into the UBIDS, the acting vice Chancellor of the school, Prof Emmanuel K. Derbile charged the students to be good ambassadors of the University and also to conduct themselves in a manner that will not bring the image of school into disrepute.
“After going through this matriculation, you are committing yourselves to be disciplined and good ambassadors of the university. You will be required to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations for junior members throughout your stay in the university. I wish to remind you that degrees are not awarded only for academic excellence but also for good character”.
The Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies was established in 2019 by ACT 1001 with a mandate to become an internationally acclaimed applied research and practical-oriented educational institution, dedicated to the development of business and integrated development studies.
The acting vice chancellor touted the success chalked by the school so far and hinted that the school will soon be graduating its first batch of law students who are pursuing an L L B program.
While thanking the government for the continued support, Prof Deribile appealed for enhanced infrastructure to improve academic work at the UBIDS.
He explained that “as a new university, we certainly have infrastructural deficits and that is to be expected. With support from the council, there are a number of measures that we are taking to accelerate the process of improving the infrastructure situation in the university for creating a more conducive and enabling environment for teaching and learning”.
The acting vice chancellor was confident that the UBIDS would soon surmount some of the key challenges impeding teaching and learning and become one of the most enviable learning institutions in the country.
