Residents from Nkawkaw and adjoining communities have lauded a gesture by ASA Savings and Loans after they benefited from a free health screening exercise in the area.
The gesture was to reach out to residents within Nkawkaw and nearby communities to help address medical conditions and other health needs.
Approximately 255 clients attended the event, with the majority being market women mostly customers of the financial institution.
The screening identified various health conditions prevalent among the participants, including musculoskeletal pains (lumbago) at 50%, peripheral neuropathy at 20%, insomnia at 8%, and eye disorders at 16%.
Additionally, malaria, enteric fever, and others were observed, constituting 6% of the diagnoses.
Both customers and staff of ASA Savings and Loans, along with the medical team, expressed satisfaction with the event’s proceedings.
Head of the Medical Team, Dr. Antwi Bosiako recommended that more funds be allocated towards procuring medications and other essential medical items, considering the high cost of healthcare delivery in the current environment.
Medical Lab Technician, Paulina Quainoo commended the gesture by ASA Savings and Loans and called for similar social services to be continued and replicated in other areas.
He also advised that future events should ideally be organized in market areas to maximize accessibility.
Ejisu Area Manager for ASA Savings and Loans Limited, Alexander Opoku Ayitey emphasized the need to impact positively on society as an institution.
He said ASA Savings and Loans was also concerned with the general well-being of its clients and communities within which it operates.
The exercise which was conducted by the Nkawkaw Business Centre of ASA Savings and Loans and held at the Nkawkaw New Station put smiles on the faces of 255 beneficiaries.
Other staff of ASA Savings and Loans present at the event included; Seth Danielson Adoko-Bonney, the Branch manager for Nkawkaw BC, and Mithu Bhushan Debnath, the Divisional Manager for Ashanti East.
