The Locked-Up Investment Holders Forum has suspended its intended picketing scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 and 29, following a meeting with the Deputy Minister for Finance.
The group resumed picketing at the Finance Ministry on May 15, demanding the release of their funds trapped in defunct financial institutions.
They vowed to picket at the Ministry every Wednesday until the end of November 2024 if their requests were not met.
However, in a press statement signed by the group’s convener, Dr. Adu Anane Antwi, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, the group announced that it had suspended its strike after a call from the Deputy Finance Minister to discuss their petition.
The Deputy Minister, who is currently on a trip, has promised to meet with the group on May 27, 2024, to discuss their petition.
The group has expressed hope that the meeting will yield fruitful discussions and result in the payment of their locked-up investments.
