According to the police, the suspect allegedly has schizophrenia, a mental disorder.
In an interview with Citi News, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, said the police would forward the docket to the Attorney General’s department for advice because of the complexity of the case.
“What we have gathered so far is that he has schizophrenia that is what family members are telling us. As to whether he is employed or unemployed that is not a justification for what he did. So we are holding him now for murder, and when we conclude our investigations, he will be charged and arraigned.”
“He butchered his father to death with a cutlass at a suburb of Koforidua called Okorase junction 10. The cutlass that he used has been retrieved for evidential purposes, whiles De-Graft Quist is in our custody,” ASP Tetteh added.
