The stage two of Citi FM’s Literacy Challenge came off today, Saturday in Accra.
50 shortlisted Junior High School students who participated in the essay competition have taken part in an aptitude test held at the Ghana Academy of Arts and sciences.
10 out of the 50 students will be selected for the next and final stage of the competition which includes general knowledge and quiz competition.
After the aptitude test session, all the 50 contestants were given medals and hampers for their participation in the competition which began a few months ago.
The Top 50 students were selected after students across the country wrote speeches on a national topic.
The topic was: “The year is 2035, the law allows people below age 40 to contest for the presidency. You are a Presidential candidate in the general election, in not less than 600 words, write your manifesto speech”.
While the aptitude test was ongoing, parents of the contestants were also being taken through knowledge on educational investments for their wards; a session led by representatives from Databank, one of the sponsors of The Literacy Challenge.
Each of the 50 participants was also given GHc50 by Databank as seed capital for Edifund, an educational investment policy.
The 2018 Literacy Challenge is sponsored by Edifund by Databank and MoneyGram with support from CITI TV.
