The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested five persons involved in recent disturbances that occurred at the office premises of the District Chief Executive for Krachi West in the Oti Region.
The disturbances which occurred on Monday, May 27, 2019 resulted in the DCE, Douglas Osei-Nti being chased out of the office and the office locked up, preventing him from executing his lawful duty.
The police in a statement on Thursday identified the five suspects as former New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency executives of Krachi West; Mathias Banyolonso, Sarfo Sunkwa, Amas Esikor, Tijani Shaibu, Murtala Yakubu.
“The suspects are being investigated for assault by imprisonment, offensive conduct and causing unlawful damage among others,” the police statement said.

The youth had claimed that the DCE was working against the interest of the NPP, and that since his appointment, he has done very little to help the party.
They presented a petition to the leadership of the NPP in the area, and further accused the DCE of failing to avail himself to the party members and the community.
They also accused him of taking unilateral decisions that affect the party.
The DCE, Osei-Nti Douglas, while recounting his ordeal, told Citi News in an earlier interview said that he had lodged an official complaint with the police over the incident.
“About five, six guys used their leg to hit my door open, entered and surrounded me by my table. They also snatched my two mobile phones from me and asked me to choose between life and death. So I asked them what for and they said they were not ready for any argument…I thank God I am still alive…I have filed a formal complaint with the Police. I want the law to take its own course. Maybe to invite or arrest [the culprits],” he said.
