Calm has returned to the Ohwimase Anglican Basic School in the Kwadaso municipality of the Ashanti region after pupils rejected food provided by the caterer under the school feeding programme.
In a video that went viral on social media, a woman is heard narrating the circumstances that led to the rejection by the students.
She indicated that the quality was below standard and called on authorities to look into the matter.
She added that the school had complained about the quality of food being served the students but no action had been taken by the caterer to improve it.
“We have always complained to the caterer on many occasions but she has not improved the quality. We are pleading with the media to talk about this issue for us.”
Although the Municipal Chief Executive of Kwadaso, Richmond Agyenim Boateng declined to speak to Citi News, sources within the municipal assembly have disclosed to Citi News that the caterer has been replaced by a new person.
During Citi News’ visit to the school, some teachers noted that calm has returned to the school following the decision by authorities to put a new person in charge.
They stated that the school has not found problems with food being served by the new caterer as allegations against the previous caterer are being looked into.
The head teacher was however not available for comment on the matter.
