The Lydia Darko – Acheampong Foundation, (LDAF), a nonprofit organizatione establishedto bridge the gap between the privileged and less privileged int the Ghanaian society has donated items worth twelve thousand Ghana cedis to porters and orphans in Dodowa.
Some items that were donated included bags of rice, toiletries, beverages among
others.
The NGO was primarily established to lead advocacy in the areas of children and women empowerment as well as provide support for bright but needy students.
Speaking at the launch of the foundation, the founder of the organization Mrs. Lydia Amoako Kyei explained that, though the foundation is a new one, it will strive to achieve its goal of empowering children and women.
She stated ‘Primarily we are looking at charity and unbridled
humanitarian work entered at children and woman empowerment’.
The Foundation prior to Its Official Launch visited the Children’s ward at the
La General Hospital on New Year’s Eve and paid off some hospital bills of needy families and donated clothing’s at the various wards.
As part of the activities of the launch, the founder dined, wined and engage in some fun activities with the staff and children of the orphanage to mark her birthday.
The caretaker Madam Jane expressed her gratitude and appealed to well-meaning individuals and organizations to come to their aid.
The foundation is set to roll out a series of programs mainly targeting children
and women in mostly rural areas of Ghana in the coming months.
