The outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Shi Ting Wang says the bilateral relations between Ghana and China has created about 100,000 job opportunities for the local people in Ghana.
He says China is currently the number one trade partner of Ghana with a volume of US$7.4 billion, making it the biggest investor in Ghana.
Addressing the media during a farewell call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, the Chinese Ambassador said the co-operation between both countries has resulted in the facilitation of numerous projects in Ghana.
“We are number one trade partners. Last year, the trade volume was US$7.4 billion. It ranked the 7th in the whole of Africa. In the past two years, there have been so many projects rolled out between our countries. For instance, phase two of the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho, the Sinohydro project, the Jamestown fishing port complex and other ten fishing ports. China is the biggest investor to Ghana. Our investment created about 100,000 jobs for the local people. In addition to the government projects, the private investment to Ghana is also very strong,” he noted.
The Chinese Embassy to Ghana had earlier informed the Foreign Affairs Ministry that the Ambassador will be ending his line of duty as China’s Ambassador to Ghana at the end of June 2020.
Mr. Shi Tin Wang at the occasion explained that he had to go back to China because his two-year tenure of office had come to an end.
“I was informed by Beijing that I will complete the tenure as the ambassador to Ghana and scheduled to go back to China in late June.”
