Some assembly members within the Ablekuma West municipality want President Nana Akufo-Addo to maintain George Cyril Bray as their Municipal Chief Executive.
This comes after a group, known as the Concerned Youth of Ablekuma West, called for the removal of the Municipal Chief Executive for the area.
The group alleged that the relationship between the MCE and party members is falling apart thereby deepening the cracks within the party in the municipality.
Responding to the many allegations levelled against George Cyril Bray, the assembly members said he is the best man for the job.
“We want to correct the misinformation that our MCE does not have a good relationship with us. This is rather in reality, the opposite. He’s competent, friendly, very respected, and above all extremely hard-working. It’s our prayer and utmost wish that the president renominates him for us to endorse him.”
The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Emelia Agyemfra Donkor in a statement disassociated the Assembly from the group. She stated that they did not know of the group or its members.
“We register our displeasure towards an aborted press conference organized by a group named Concerned Patriots of Ablekuma West constituency on Tuesday 20th, April 2021 at the church premise of Praise Tabernacle worldwide opposite old Dansoman Police station. This group proclaimed in their brief and an audio recording circulating on social media that our MCE has a bad taste relationship with assembly members, who are party members, and also does not recognize them as honourable members.”
“To begin with, we do not know any group as mentioned above. This group has no relationship, business, or partnership with any of us assembly members, whether appointee or elected.”
The Municipal Chief Executive for Ablekuma West denied the allegations and noted that his actions have rather improved the performance of the party in the area.
