Senior representatives of the Western North Regional Coordinating Council, Chiefs of Sefwi, and other stakeholders have applauded the government for the introduction of the National Energy Transition Plan
The stakeholders expressed their views about the policy at a stakeholder consultation held at the Regional Coordinating Council in the capital of the Western North Region, Sefwi Wiaso.
The leader of the energy transition delegation, Deputy Energy Minister, William Owuraku Aidoo, explained to the gathering the need for Ghana to champion the energy transition agenda but emphasized the pace at which government wants to move toward achieving a net-zero emission.
The Afigya Kwabre South lawmaker further underscored the effects of fossil-fuel-based energy on the environment and the steps taken by the government to mitigate the impact.
The representatives from the region that participated in the stakeholder discussion charged the government to hasten cautiously and not yield to any foreign pressure in this transition process.
They however pledged their support for the policy at the local level.
The energy transition team would proceed on its last tour to Dambai in the Oti Region to wrap up the stakeholder engagement.
