The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, says the Electoral Commission (EC) should have held consultations with stakeholders before conducting the limited registration exercise.
He told Umaru Sanda Amadu in an interview on Face to Face on Citi TV on Tuesday, “Before this exercise, the EC should have held a stakeholders’ meeting with the political parties, youth groups, CSOs, and the police for them to bring their inputs, especially the Ghana Identification Authority and the Ghana Statistical Service.”
Mr. Moore said this was imperative for the smooth running of the exercise across the country and would have averted the current challenges the exercise was encountering.
Meanwhile, he was optimistic about a resounding victory for his party in the 2024 general elections.
He is so certain of the party’s victory that he said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will still be defeated should it decide to elect a relative of the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, in its November 4 flagbearer primaries.
“If they [the NPP] elect a flagbearer who is even a family member of former president John Mahama, still John Mahama will win the elections. Don’t forget John Mahama is the most popular person in Ghana, and he is even more popular than Akufo-Addo,” Mr. Moore stated.
