Management of the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua is seeking financial support for a 32-year-old unemployed woman who delivered healthy quadruplets at the hospital today.
The quadruplets, who were 33 weeks old, were delivered through a 45-minute Caesarean section due to high-order pregnancy at around 10:54 a.m. on Thursday, October 26.
A multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Francis Wuobar performed the Caesarean section.
The team consisted of obstetrician specialists, paediatricians, anaesthetists, midwives (DART), and a theatre team.
The quadruplets, two boys and two girls, weigh between 1.4 and 1.9 kilograms. They are all in good condition, according to the medical team.
The mother, Sabina Acheampong, is also doing well. She already has a daughter, making the new quadruplets a total of five children for her.
Obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Attuah Koranteng Samuel expressed satisfaction with the success of the operation and said that the mother and babies are under strict medical observation.
He also appealed to benevolent individuals and corporate Ghana to come to the mother’s aid financially.
Sabina Acheampong also appealed to the general public for assistance in caring for her new babies.
