The Minority in Parliament has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reconsider his approach to governance in light of Parliament’s introduction of a new standing order.
Effective Tuesday, February 6, Parliament began enforcing its new standing orders.
These orders mandate lawmakers to, among other policies, conduct a roll call and recite the national pledge at the first sitting of each week.
During a meeting between the Parliamentary Leadership and the Parliamentary Press Corps, the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, suggested that the executive branch should follow suit.
“Ghanaians are fast losing hope in our democracy, and we can’t allow this to happen. So we also have to reform the way governance is done. I use this platform once again to call on His Excellency the President to reform his governance style and the way governance is conducted in this country in a manner that we can gain the confidence of the people of Ghana so that this democracy can succeed,” he said.
