Child Trafficking is a menace which is very close to us, however very difficult to identify. Efutu, Akumfi, Ada, Ho, Ehi and Ningo Prampram, have sadly become recognized as a hotspot for Human Trafficking, primarily due to high levels of unemployment.
A recent survey conducted and corroborated by United Way Ghana through an assessment in partnership with Engage Now Africa and International Justice Mission, revealed a distressing reality: parents are resorting to trading their own children for meager sums, condemning them to servitude on the Volta Lake. Such heartbreaking situations emphasize the immediate necessity for an intervention to combat Human Trafficking in hotspot communities in Ghana.
With funding support from the P&G Alumni Foundation, United Way Ghana is collaborating with Engage Now Africa and International Justice Mission to execute an intervention to support 60 survivors of Human Trafficking in Efutu, Akumfi, Ada, Ho, Ehi and Ningo Prampram Implementing this Anti-Human Trafficking Project with a theme: Rebuilding Lives: Empowering Survivors of Child Trafficking is crucial to offer assistance to the identified survivors who are at risk of vulnerability.
These survivors were identified with support from the Department of Social Welfare, Ghana Police Service, and community leaders. The survivors have been taken through trauma informed support training ensuring that they are empowered and guided through their healing process.
To facilitate their successful reintegration, the sixty survivors will undergo vocational and technical skills training tailored to their interests and the demands of their community.
Following the completion of this training, they will receive financial literacy and business management coaching to equip them with the necessary skills to establish and maintain their enterprises effectively.
Upon passing a post-assessment test to demonstrate readiness, each survivor will be furnished with a starter pack to inaugurate their entrepreneurial endeavors.

We pledge to stay committed to this cause to enable us to better our lives and support our friends and family who are going through similar struggles.
