3062 BECE candidates from 46 Basic Schools in the Kwesimintsim Constituency have commenced a free mock exam on Monday, May 20th, 2024 to prepare them for the upcoming BECE.
The free mock exams which are organised by the NDC parliamentary candidate for Kwesimintsim, Lawyer Philip Fiifi Buckman in collaboration with the Effia-Kwesimintsim Education Directorate, is to introduce them to some of the potential questions expected from the new syllabus.
Speaking to Citi News at the presentation of the question papers to the EKMA Education Directorate at the onset of the mock examination, Lawyer Fiifi Buckman said his funding of the mock exams for candidates from the 46 Basics Schools forms part of his continuous support to improving education in the Kwesimintsim Constituency.
“The reason for doing this is to show to the students, especially the candidates who are going to write the exams that they’re not alone. Thus, they have stakeholders interested in their future and making sure they pass. We decided that we are going to organize a mock examination for them which covers all the forty-six (46) JHS schools within the Kwesimintsim constituency. We have today presented the questions covering all the subjects which they’re going to write,” he explained.
Lawyer Fiifi Buckman also shed light on how the mock exams seek to prepare the students for the new syllabus.
“We were informed the syllabus had changed, so these questions that I have brought to them are reflective of the changes of the new arrangements made by the West African Examinations Council. I believe this will help the students to assess themselves, to assist teachers to have a fair idea of possible examinable areas and discuss with the students. So, it is just our token to also assist soaring education in my constituency which is Kwesimintsim constituency,” he added.
The free BECE mock examinations starting today 20th May are expected to come to a close on 24th May 2024.
