The Ghana Police Service has warned the general public to be on the lookout for an online job recruitment syndicate who are believed to be engaged in a recruitment scam.
According to a statement signed by the Director-General of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, ACP David Eklu, the activities of the group have been uncovered in some West African countries including Burkina Faso and intelligence picked up by the service indicates that Ghana may be their next point of call.
The statement further indicated that their activities are mainly carried out on social media where they advertise employment opportunities and wait for prospective online job seekers to take the bait.
They demand payments for training and subsequently invite their victims for supposed training programs.
After all procedures are concluded and all monies taken from the victim, they harass them in various forms and then demand that the victims provide other individuals in exchange for their freedom.
The Ghana Police Service in the statement thus cautioned all job seekers to beware of such groups and seek professional help in finding jobs online.
