A group calling itself Nanung Youth for Development invaded the construction site of the company working on the Bimbilla town dual carriage road as part of the Eastern Corridor expansion project.
According to the youth, the constructors have deliberately reduced the size of the road because certain structures that were earmarked for demolition are now being left hence the action.
They urged the constructor to ensure that all structures earmarked are demolished to make way for the original size of the road.
The leader of the group, Azindow Malik, said they want the contractor to stick to the original construction plan and carry on with the demolition to ensure the road is built to standard.
“Our major concern is the structures that are alongside the road that are giving the contractor the headache of expanding the road, we are agitating for those structures to be pulled down because they were earmarked to be demolished to make way for the road’s expansion. We will want to see the road plan because we have been told that the site plan has been altered three times.”
Attempts were made to get the general manager of the Eastern Corridor Contractors to speak on the matter but he was not available.
