A new Paramount Chief was installed in Botoku on Thursday despite an earlier interlocutory injunction issued by the Regional House of Chiefs restraining kingmakers from installing one Nelson Mawuli Gbadagba, whose eligibility is being challenged.
Two clans, Kledzasi and Kpale, have been contesting for the right to the throne since the demise of their paramount chief, Togbe Tamti V who died decades ago.

“Previous restraining order/interlocutory injunction vacated. Parties have entered into a bond to keep the peace. Complainant to seek redress at Judicial Committee of the Regional House of Chiefs Ho. The District Court has no jurisdiction to entertain chieftaincy matters” the court stated
The complainant subsequently secured an injunction from the House of Chiefs to put on hold the coronation until investigations are completed to ascertain the true heir to the throne.
“Reports reaching this House indicates that there is an alleged installation of a Paramount Chief at Botoku in which three of you( Victor H. K. Mensah, H.K Dzormeku and Papa Dzormeku) are the architects. Your action points to tormenting problems and conflict in the area, according to the report. You are advised however to suspend all installation activities in the area until this House research into the matter” a directive signed by the Registrar at the House of Chiefs, Harry Attipoe stated.
The Kpando Divisional Commander, Chief Supt Prosper Ahlorga, in an interview with Citi News confirmed receipt of the ruling by the House of Chiefs and said they would act accordingly to ensure peace in the area.
Despite the directive, the area went ahead to install Togbe Sie II. It is unclear what might have led the decision to go ahead with the installation, but the new Chief told Citi News that the entire community was happy.
He said there would be a ground ceremony to outdoor him on Saturday and he remained unperturbed by those challenging his eligibility.
The 30-year-old Chief is an international businessman and educationist who runs the Happy Stars Montessori in Ho and Accra.
