A debtor is on the heels of the Catholic University at Fiapre in the Bono Region over the failure of its Students Representative Council (SRC) to pay about GH¢140,000.
Rashkon Company Limited, a Sunyani-based private organization for more than three years ago, supplied some customized pieces of tablets to the institution worth a little over GH¢160, 000 upon agreeing to a contract agreement with the SRC based upon a Board Resolution from the Governing Council of the University.
The Catholic University made part payment of the stated amount but has since refused to make further payments leading to managers of the supplying company heading to court and securing judgement in its favour.
This follows the failure by both parties to reach an amicable out of court settlement under the supervision of Justice Ananda J Aikins (Mrs) on July 25, 2018 where the plaintiff agreed to accept GH¢151.250.00 as full settlement of its claim against the 2nd defendant and whereas the plaintiff also waived interest on the above amount.
Meanwhile an earlier directive by a Sunyani High Court to garnishee the account of the Catholic University College SRC account with GCB Bank, Sunyani Main Branch, checks by Rashkon Company Limited revealed that only GH¢9,500 was retrieved from the stated account giving room for further scouting of more accounts in order to make up for the entire debt owed.
Further engagement with the authorities have proved futile as there is no end in sight as to the willingness of the University SRC to take charge and ensure that it part of the contract agreement is carried through.
Engagements have been brought to as far as the Vice Chancellor of the University with regards to the payment of the outstanding balance but the Vice Chancellor has refused to act towards addressing the issue and getting the payment made to the supplier.
