The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ho West Constituency in the Volta Region has launched a 1 million Cedi Poverty Eradication Loan Scheme for traders in the Ho West District.
According to the candidate, the move is in a bid to support hard-working traders of the Constituency who have over the years struggled to get funding.
The launch, which was originally scheduled for 2021, was brought forward due to the preparedness of the women in Dodome Tedafenu to do business.
According to the Parliamentary candidate, Dr David Togbe Nfojo, the zeal of the women towards doing business has pushed him to launch the loan scheme with a seed capital of GHS 8,000.
He said the hard-working women, who have not received any support from the NDC in the past, deserve to “join the Elephant Family to continue to benefit from the covering of the elephant”.
The beneficiaries of the loan scheme, who could not hide their excitement, expressed profound gratitude to the parliamentary candidate for the kind gesture with a promise to make the best use of the fund.
“We have suffered for long, we are happy now that we have seen light. We are happy to have this kind of support from Dr. Togbe, we promise to make the best out of it and not to forget Dr. David Togbe Nfojo on the day of the election” one of the women told Citi News.
Dr Nfojo used the opportunity to advise the women to preach the “good news of the NPP to other people who are yet to see the light”.
He advised the women to discard the thought that the NPP is “an Akan party” and consider which of the parties brings them the most benefit.
“They say the NPP is an Akan party but which Ewe is leading the NDC now? Can you still call the NDC your party? If not then come onboard the elephant and let’s make Ho west and Ghana a better place” Dr Nfojo told the women.
