The Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, says the next flagbearer of the party should be someone who is able to unify the party.
“To be celebrated as the leader we cherish, you should be able to hold it together because that is what great leaders have been able to do. You should be able to unify the party and bring everyone along,” he stated.
Mustapha was speaking in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face on Citi TV in Accra on Tuesday.
He said possessing such a quality as the party’s flagbearer was crucial because of the fallouts that normally happened after a party’s primaries.
“Like it or not, after the presidential primaries, there will be a fallout. It is now incumbent on the winner to find a way to bring everyone on board and make them feel like they belong,” he added.
Mustapha noted that it was incumbent on the flag bearer to carry all members along and ensure that they believed in the ideals of the party.
“The leader should be inspirational. When we see you, we should see the spirit of the party. When the leader comes, we should see the spirit in the leader,” he added.
