A Kumasi High Court has adopted statements of a first witness in the alleged murder trial of Victoria Dapaah, also called Maadwoa, by a Police Inspector at Adum.
The Defence Counsel on Tuesday began their cross-examination of 30-year-old Emmanuel Oppong, who is the deceased’s relative.
The witness revealed an incident where the accused, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, attempted to assault the deceased while she was taking her bath months before her tragic death.
He said he intervened and rescued the deceased and confronted the armed suspect who was in uniform.
Oppong claimed that the disagreement leading to the tragic incident started after the deceased rejected the accused’s proposal for an illicit relationship.
The Defence Counsel contested claims that his client had a gun in his possession during his private engagements.
Asked about the shooting incident, Oppong admitted he did not witness the crime but had learned about the identity of the accused from another source.
The case has been adjourned to February 7, 2024, for the continuation of the cross-examination.
