New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary Aspirant, Justin Frimpong Kodua has congratulated the Black Stars on their qualification to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The team qualified on away goal rule after drawing with their West African neighbor, Nigeria, in a keenly contested qualifier on Tuesday in Abuja.
Mr. Kodua in a statement also commended the President and key stakeholders who played a significant role in helping the Black Stars secure a victory in the keenly contested match.
“I also commend the President of the Republic, the Sports Minister, the Technical Team, the GFA and indeed, the good people of Ghana for the unswerving support that culminated in lifting high the Ghana Flag, especially at a time when all hopes were lost.
“Black Stars, you were neither intimidated by the large and vociferous crowd nor cowed down by the aggressiveness of the Green Eagles, and Ghana is very proud of the team. You have given new hope and confidence in the Senior National Team and put smiles on all the faces of Ghanaians.”
The Black Stars took a shock lead kind courtesy of a strike by Thomas Partey before Nigeria equalized through a spot kick.
Despite the one all draw, Ghana’s away goal advantage saw it sail through to pick one of the five slots for Africa at the 2022 global football showdown in Qatar later in November.
