The Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has taken another swipe at the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the ruling New Patriotic Party is charting a new course for the country so that Ghanaians will not go back to an “incompetent” Mahama.
Speaking at the launch of “AspirantsUnite4Nana” movement on Monday, Dr. Bawumia insisted that Mr. Mahama lacks credibility and vision and urged Ghanaians to renew the mandate of President Akufo-Addo.
“We know from the data that is available that John Mahama managed our economy with incompetence. We could not pay the NHIS service providers. He had to cancel teacher training allowance, cancel nursing training allowance, introduce utility bills for students, abolish Arabic instructors allowance, froze hiring, we had backlog of nurses, ambulance system was collapsing even chalk in school was a problem. This is incompetence. Pure and simple. It’s a fact that is there. Are we going to go back to incompetence? Not only has he proven to be incompetent, he has also proven to not have credibility. No credibility and no vision,” he said.
According to Dr. Bawumia, “the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo alternative is a fantastic option. That is the alternative. In Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo we have a transformational leader. It’s clear that we are not just doing business as usual. We’re taking this country and charting a new path, a new course”.
The AspirantsUnite4Nana initiative is a move aimed at bringing together all Parliamentary Aspirants within the New Patriotic Party who lost at the Party’s parliamentary primaries, to combine efforts in garnering votes for the party.
In an interview with Citi News on the sidelines of the launch, Media and Communications Executive of AspirantsUnite4Nana, Dr. Louise Carol Donkor, outlined some of the activities to be embarked on by the group in support of the NPP’s national campaign.
“We’ve adopted some orphan constituencies that we will be going to work there. Some of us aspirants who have decided to go independent we’re hoping to rope all of them in and let them understand that the NPP dream is bigger than the individual dream, than the personal dream. Aside the constituencies that we’re going to visit, we’re going to do donations to health facilities along the country. We’re going to do regional tours, some form of mini rallies in constituencies. Our documentaries will come out. Everything that we’re going to do is geared towards telling the story of hope, the story of development as the NPP has been able to do for the people of Ghana,” she said.
