Amidst the ongoing NPP presidential election to determine the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 presidential elections, Member of Parliament for Amasaman, Akwasi Afrifa Mensah, has conveyed a clear message to delegates, urging them to vote for a candidate who can “break the eight.”
In an exclusive interview with Citi News, he highlighted the potential leadership qualities of all four candidates vying for the role in the upcoming general elections in the country.
“They should look for a candidate who can help the party break the eighth,” he emphasized.
He further expressed confidence in the candidates, stating, “My vote is my secret, and I believe that among all four contestants in the race, whoever wins is capable of defeating the NDC next year.”
Mensah also made a heartfelt plea to delegates, urging them to unite behind the ultimate winner and maintain decorum during the voting process:
“I want to plead with them to comport themselves, vote peacefully, and go home. Then, at the end of the day, if a candidate is declared, we all come out to support and work with them.”
Today, Saturday, November 4, over 200,000 NPP delegates from across the country will be casting their votes to elect a presidential candidate for the 2024 election. The other candidates in the race include Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh.
To prevent potential resignations from the party after the primary, all four candidates signed an undertaking on October 2, committing not to resign if they are not chosen.
